I was looking to move from one house to another this past November and I weighed my options. I could rent equipment, bribe friends with pizza and beer, then lug everything all day to wind up exhausted with broken stuff because my friends don't really care about my stuff because it's close to Thanksgiving and they're not thankful that I asked them to take a weekend to help me move, or do I hire a mover to do it for me?
Needless to say, with that line of reasoning, I decided on hiring someone. I talked to some friends and they referred me to Affordable Quality Moving & Storage. This is probably the best tip I have ever gotten from them (and I met my wife who through one of them who just blessed me with offspring. My wife, not my friend. I digress). Everything was done professionally: the initial contact to get a quote, my stuff being handled with care, and interacting with the staff. All we had to do was get settled in our home. And as an added bonus, I didn't have to spring for pizza and beer.
I can highly recommend them for your move, so do yourself the favor and hire them to take care of you and give your friends a break.
